Truly Born Again: Most People Deny That Jesus Christ is Lord

The world continues to lie, as it always has, about who and what Jesus Christ really is… God is love, yes, but His holiness overshadows all and demands justice. An earthly judge who allowed a criminal to escape justice would be a bad judge… The Bible is clear that not everyone is a “child of God.”

When a believer in Jesus Christ stands up in a firm way, saying that He is not just a great teacher, but God in human form, that believer is going to be opposed. Because most of the world clings to the lie that Jesus was only a man.

Think about the reality in which we live, where so many people claim to respect Jesus, even love Him, yet not to the level of saying that he is Lord of all creation.

But if an individual says this… if he or she does not believe that Christ is God represented in the flesh, and that no other man or woman has been or will ever be God… that person is not saved. It is so simple that the world has to tamper and mess it up.

When the Bible speaks of being “saved,” it means saved from God’s wrath upon Christ-rejecting sinners in Hell.  Romans 5:9, “Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” All Christ-rejecters go to Hell if they die in their sins. If a person is “saved,” then they are going to Heaven when they die.

Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” We are saved from the eternal consequences of sin, which is punishment in hellfire.

If the Bible is true, then there will be precious few that will enter into heaven to stay forever.

Being saved is not about doing good works, which is what the Catholics generally add to the gospel. They do believe that Jesus is God, but that He did not pay the full price for our sin; therefore, we have to “qualify” for heaven. Catholicism tells its adherents that they need a “go-between”, namely priests and ultimately the pope, to approach the Lord. This belief system doesn’t lower Christ, instead it elevates Mary, the all-too-human mother of Jesus, into a position of being worshipped. Every Catholic claims not to worship Mary, but the second commandment (Exodus 20:3-5) forbids even bowing to Mary, which a simple web search or visit to Catholic church will show you they do.

The “Mary worship” of Catholicism is idolatrous and cultic.

Being saved is not possible if you deny the deity of Christ, which Jehovah’s Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists do. They say that in their own words — that the Bible is the truth and that they love God, which sounds good, but Jesus is left out or downgraded.

Followers of Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Rastafarianism, Wicca, and a host of other religions all say that Jesus is not the Son of God, deliberately saying that the Bible is untrue. According to that Bible, they are liars, and cannot enter heaven.

1st John 2:22-23, “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.”

There will be some from all of the above beliefs who do hold Christ as Lord in their hearts, and are not deceived. But Luke chapter 13 says that this will be a slim number.

“Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.” —Luke 13:23-24. That will include many who label themselves “Christians,” who don’t truly believe that Jesus is God.

There are some Christians who attend church, do good works, and are generally nice people. You will meet these types every day of your life. But these lukewarm Christians endorse sodomy, abortion, and never stand up for Lord Jesus because they say that it doesn’t matter what people do or believe: “We are all brothers as long as we do right.” This is absolute apostasy.

What is apostasy? From a biblical standpoint, we can boil it down to: Believing (knowing) what is correct, and then purposely turning away from it.

We are not speaking of immature, spiritually-young Christians, who may have misinterpreted verses and who, over time, will be corrected by the Holy Spirit. We speak of those who, for example, read over and over of God’s intense love for children, but somehow want to say that He is okay with killing babies in the womb because “it’s that woman’s choice and her body.”

If these more mature, apostate Christians really believed ( knew in their heart) that Jesus is God, they would be convicted to turn away from that shoulder-shrugging complacence. We are not talking about Bible-thumping, street corner preaching, nor of trying to shame anyone here.

We are not advocating being holier-than-thou, nor of being a modern-day Pharisee that says “At least I’m not bad like him.” No, we are all “bad” in God’s holy eyes.

But at some point, a true believer has to take some kind of stand, even if it’s just having the courage to openly pray over his food in a godless workplace lunchroom (instead of acting as if he is scratching his nose). Even if it is simply walking away from someone who is blatantly disrespecting Christ, instead of standing there silently while he tells the Jesus jokes, thinking “Well, it’s his business what he believes.”

A true believer in Christ is known by his or her fruits… by the efforts to follow the Word of God, rather than follow the course of the world just to get along. Because none of us are going to get to walk away from that throne of judgment.

All will confess that Jesus is God  (Romans 14:11) before that seat.
